Volley is a battle-hardened cybernetic mechanic shaped by years of survival and fierce self-reliance. Her animations needed to show that scrappy, adaptable fighting style. The challenge was nailing that classic fighting game feel from Street Fighter and King of Fighters while adapting it for a more modern, playful character.

This vibrant image showcases a determined female character with bright blue eyes and a light blue bandage on her nose, exuding a feisty and energetic mood. She is clad in striking red and white armor with mechanical elements, including large, powerful gauntlets that appear ready for action. The detailed rendering and dynamic pose suggest a character from a video game or animated series, poised for an exciting adventure.

The animations below show some of the key moves I threw together for her move set. I spent a lot of time studying those classic games to really understand what made their moves feel so damn good. Game feel is everything when it comes to combat. Every attack needs to feel satisfying when you hit that button, but they can't hang around too long or you're stealing control from the player. Players need to stay in charge of what's happening.

Getting that balance right between visual punch and snappy responsiveness is what separates okay combat from combat that actually feels amazing to play. Miss that sweet spot and the whole thing falls apart. You want players to feel the weight of every hit while never losing control of their character. That's where the magic happens.
